Combat support stations
Communication, coordination and protection of the support units
In reality, combat vehicles do not operate as isolated units yet networked combat simulators usually only provide either blue or red force CGF. The necessary communications to request combat support (e.g. artillery fire), fuel and ammunition supply, or sapper (combat engeneering) support for trenches is not simulated. KMW offers its low-cost generic support stations for man-in-the-loop simulation of various combat support roles to close this training gap.
COMBAT SUPPORT STATIONS COMPRISED OF SIMPLE CONTROL HARDWARE ENHANCE COMBAT SIMULATION:
The man-in-the-loop simulation of combat support focuses on communication, coordination and protection of the support units. Support stations use COTS laptops with simple hardware and are DIS-based for plug & play enhancement of combat simulation networks.
ADVANCED DYNAMIC TERRAIN FEATURES ARE A CORE CAPABILITY FOR SUPPORT FUNCTIONS:
Artillery impacts, digging trenches and defilades, clearing road debris are important tasks in Support Function training. It requires realistic simulation of soil movement, soil physics, and on-the-fly database modifications. KMW is a leader in these sophisticated techniques and is always pushing the limits.
AVAILABLE PLUG & PLAY SUPPORT STATIONS:
- Artillery Support – Combat vehicles can call for various types of artillery support. A laptop-based artillery simulator that allows selection of shells, fuses and fire mode and computes ballistic trajectories
- Logistic Support - Combat vehicles can request fuel supply and/or ammunition supply. The supply vehicle is driven through the database using a simplified driver’s station
- Sapper Support - Units can request sapper support to dig trenches to protect troops and vehicles. KMW´s excavator simulation is controlled by a simple Man- Machine-Interface with sophisticated soil physics for realistic simulation
