DINGO 2 6x6 Recovery Vehicle

The DINGO for a safe escort and challenging tasks

Damaged or broke down vehicles in the weight class of 14 tonnes can be recovered and towed away by the DINGO 6x6 under combat conditions without any loss of time. Especially for this task, the 6x6 version of the DINGO 2 family is equipped with a hydraulic 10 tonne recovery winch with a planetary gear, a multi-plate clutch and a rope brake as well as a towing device. In contrast to conventional recovery vehicles it can easily follow vehicle patrols and convoys in mission areas due to its smaller size and high mobility.

Strength and mobility are its characteristics
The DINGO 2 6x6 features an 8-speed fully synchronized transmission with automatic shifting (EAS) and a selectable four-wheel drive. It can overcome heavy terrain whilst also being able to reach a top speed of 80 km / h on roads. For the first time now the vehicle has been equipped with three axles (6x6) but, like all members of the DINGO family, it is still based on a Unimog chassis. Operation, maintenance and training are thereby standardized and thus facilitated.

With 17.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight the vehicle is easily air transportable. Up to a three-man crew can rely on the already widely tested and proven protection of the DINGO against mines, IEDs and ballistic threats. Just like the other versions of this vehicle for patrols, reconnaissance, ambulance operations, NBC reconnaissance missions, transportation or maintenance the DINGO 6x6 is considered to be the best protected vehicle of its class.

The capability profile of the DINGO 2 6x6 Recovery Vehicle:

One platform – multitudinous capabilities
The secrets to the success of the DINGO 2 are its first-class protection and mobility characteristics and its variable equipment concept, which allows specific equipping for current as well as future mission profiles. Just like the broad range of equipment options, the protection cell can also be adapted to suit the needs of the customer. The patrol vehicle cell is offered in various designs for up to 8 occupants, while the large volume cell features doors to the sides and rear and can accommodate a variety of equipment such as a command post, NBC reconnaissance or ambulance.

High performance. Low lifecycle costs. Low maintenance
As an ultra-modern wheeled vehicle, the DINGO 2 is not only well prepared for a variety of mission profiles and extreme terrain, but also for a cost-effective long service life. Its basis is a militarized UNIMOG chassis. This results in low cost for training and instruction of drivers and mechanics. Another economic benefit is also the low-maintenance, durable diesel engine. In addition, the KMW service department offers worldwide vehicle maintenance - directly in the operational area - and also supports the supply of spare parts. Thus, each time the full performance of the vehicles is ensured.

Deployed all over the world
With the DINGO 2, Krauss-Maffei Wegmann have developed a convincing response to the numerous global threat scenarios. More than 800 units of this powerful general protection transport vehicle are under contract for 6 Nations
