Knut Peters heads KMW Corporate Communications

01.06.2022

Journalist, reserve officer and former Kiel government spokesperson Knut Peters (62) has taken over as Head of Corporate Communications at the defence technology manufacturer Krauss-Maffei Wegmann GmbH & Co. KG (KMW) in Munich. He reports directly to the Chairman of KMW’s Management Board, Ralf Ketzel, and succeeds Dr. Kurt Braatz, who has moved to KMW’s parent company KNDS in Amsterdam.

Peters was most recently communication advisor to the commander of NATO headquarters in Brunssum, the Netherlands, and before that NATO’s military spokesperson in Afghanistan. His journalistic career began at the “Kieler Nachrichten” daily newspaper. He was then an editor at Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR), head of news at Radio Schleswig-Holstein (R.SH) and editor-in-chief of the Berlin radio news station HUNDERT,6. From 2009 to 2012, he was spokesperson for the Schleswig-Holstein state government. He then worked as a consultant for the Berlin communication agency altcramer.

“With Knut Peters, we have gained a communication professional who is excellently networked in business, politics, the media and the military both within Germany and abroad. He will further optimise our communication work, ensure constructive dialogue and thus strengthen our position within the new security policy environment," says KMW CEO Ralf Ketzel.
