The strategic alliance between KMW and Nexter, completed in 2015, thus presents itself as an ongoing Franco-German success story.

Standing for Main Ground Combat System, MGCS is a joint Franco-German defence project. The programme, to be implemented under German political leadership, is tasked with developing a main combat system to succeed the Bundeswehr’s Leopard 2 and the French Army’s Leclerc starting in 2035.

Making the start of the MGCS procurement programme Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW), Nexter Systems and Rheinmetall AG established an ARGE in December 2019.

The Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization (DALO) has signed an agreement with Krauss - Maffei Wegmann (KMW) for the procurement of seven Leguan bridge - layer systems on Leopard 2 chassis on 12 December 2019. The order comprises a total of six Leguan systems, a comprehensive periphery package, training simulators and an additional carrier vehicle. Shipping of the bridge - layers will begin at the end of 2022.

Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) transferred the first two Leguan bridge laying systems to the Dutch Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) during a celebratory handover ceremony.

The Artec consortium, led by Rheinmetall and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW), has signed a contract with the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) to produce more than 500 Boxer 8x8-wheeled armoured vehicles for the British Army. The total current value of the order is approximately €2.6 billion (£2.3 billion). The contract has been awarded to Artec via the European procurement agency Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation (OCCAR).

The Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) has commissioned Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) to supply a total of nine Mungo N/C Recce reconnaissance systems.
